Under the auspices of Bhansali Productions and UTV Motion Pictures, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screw Vala produced the 2012 Indian Hindi-language action movie Rowdy Rathore, which was directed by Prabhu Deva. Akshay Kumar plays the twin roles of a valiant police officer and a burglar in this 2006 Telugu film adaptation, which is based on an original novel by V. Vijayendra Prasad. Nassar plays the primary antagonist in the movie, with Sonakshi Sinha, Gurdeep Kohli, Yashpal Sharma, and Paresh Ganatra playing minor parts.[4] In the movie, a thug named Baaji kills Vikram Rathore, a courageous and upright police officer. To exact revenge for his passing, however, his crew substitutes Shiva, a criminal who also happens to have his likeness, for him.
On a budget of ₹60 crore, Rowdy Rathore was mostly filmed in Mumbai and Hampi [5]. It was released globally on June 1, 2012. Sajid-Wajid wrote the music for it.[6] It received mixed reviews from reviewers when it first came out and went on to become a domestic and international box office success. By the conclusion of its run, it had grown its distributor share to ₹740 million (US$8.6 million) in India thanks to positive word-of-mouth.[7] In just seven weeks, it made ₹515.5 million (US$6.0 million), making it one of the highest grossing films ever to hit the Mumbai circuit.[8] The movie became one of the highest-grossing Indian films with a total gross of approximately ₹203.39 crore (US$23 million).[9][10]
