S. S. Rajamouli, who co-wrote the screenplay with V. Vijayendra Prasad, is the director of the 2022 Indian Telugu-language epic historical action-drama film RRR[b] (subtitled onscreen as Rudram Raman Rudhi ram). Starring N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn (in his Telugu debut), Alia Bhatt (in her Telugu debut), and Olivia Morris (in her Telugu debut), the film is produced by D. V. V. Danaya under DVV Entertainment. It is a fictionalized homage to the Indian rebels Komara Bheem (played by N. T. Rama Rao Jr.) and Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan), honoring their struggle against injustice.

Reimagining the lives of Sitarama Raju and Bheem, Rajamouli envisioned their 1920 Delhi encounter as two powerful forces coming together to oppose British colonial oppression. In March 2018, the movie was formally announced, and principal filming in Hyderabad started in November 2018. The COVID-19 epidemic caused delays in the manufacture, which ended in August 2021. RRR was primarily filmed in India, with certain scenes also being shot in Bulgaria and Ukraine. M. M. Keeravani wrote the film's songs and background score, while K. K. Senthil Kumar handled the photography and A. Sreekar Prasad handled the editing. V. Srinivas Mohan oversaw the visual effects, while Sabu Cyril designed the production.

RRR was only the sixth non-English language picture to ever appear on the National Board of Review's ranking of the top 10 films of the year.[13] At the 95th Academy Awards, the song "Naatu" took home the Best Original Song Oscar, becoming the first song from both an Asian and an Indian movie to do so.
