"Dhoom" (literally "Bang") is a 2004 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Sanjay Gadhvi and produced by Aditya Chopra. The story is written by Aditya Chopra and the screenplay is written by Vijay Krishna Acharya for Yash Raj Films. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Uday Chopra, Esha Deol, and Rimi Sen. The cinematography and editing are by Nirav Shah and Rameshwar S. Bhagat, while the music and score are by Pritam and Salimâ Sulaiman, respectively.

'Dhoom' is Chopra's first film produced by Yash Raj Films after 'Yash', in which he played the role of Vijay. The film tells the story of a motorcycle gang in Mumbai led by Kabir (played by John Abraham), a thief, police officer Jay Dixit (played by Abhishek Bachchan), and a motorcycle businessman Ali Akbar Fateh Khan (played by Uday Chopra), who plays a thief. Critics gave mixed reviews for the film's acting, performance, and music, but criticized its screenplay and compared it to other Hollywood films such as The Fast and the Furious, Death Race, and Ocean's. The film was a commercial success in India, grossing over US$290 million (US$3.5 million) at the box office, making it the third highest-grossing film in India of 2004.[5]

At the 50th Filmfare Awards, Dhoom received 6 nominations, including Best Film, Best Actor (played by John Abraham), and won Best Director (played by Pritam), and won 2 awards, Best Editing and Best Sound Design, for Akbar Khan.
